The suite of products and easy-to-use mobile app give parents visibility into the activities and location of their children as well as the security and health of their home.  Whether at home or across town, families can keep Tabs on what they care most about.  Leveraging LoRa Technology for smart home solutions has a number of advantages compared to other technologies currently being utilized.  In a LoRa-based smart home solution, the Hub is designed to cover the entire neighborhood so as to minimize or eliminate connectivity challenges that can frustrate users.

A consumer can seamlessly connect sensors from a shop, garage, boat house, front-gate, or garden without the complication of installing repeaters.  In existing smart home solutions not utilizing LoRa Technology, they are in a silo, but with the LoRaWAN open protocol, the solutions are part of a network which enables features such as real-time location tracking.  The LoRaWAN network also provides additional redundancy and security.  If a single Hub goes down due to a power outage or Wi-Fi failure, then other Hubs in the area will still receive these messages and provide the homeowner the notifications.

The Tabs solution currently includes door/window sensors, motion sensors, temperature/humidity/air quality sensors, wearable locator sensor, object locator sensor, and configurable push-button based on the Semtech SX1276 transceiver.  Tabs is a platform that will allow the connection of many other sensors to be added due to the standardization of the LoRaWAN open protocol through the LoRa Alliance™.  The standardization, ecosystem, and seamless interoperability of different sensors and vendors are what are driving the success and acceptance of LoRa Technology across a number of targeted IoT verticals including consumer.

“LoRaWAN has significant advantages in consumer and building applications,” said Hardy Schmidbauer, TrackNet co-founder and CEO. “The open protocol is gaining significant traction and expected to be the defacto standard for consumer and building solutions due to the outstanding user experience and ROI it provides.”

“Because of LoRa Technology’s low-power capability and low cost deployment, the TrackNet solution illustrates the key IoT benefits to the consumer industry,” said Marc Pegulu, Vice President and General Manager for Semtech’s Wireless and Sensing Products Group. “LoRa Technology is the platform of choice for building IoT networks worldwide serving industrial, enterprise, cities, and home consumers use case applications.”
